Hello everyone.
In the whirlwind of life, where days seem to fly by faster than ever, it’s easy to overlook the simple joys around us. But the beauty of life isn’t just in grand excursions or lavish resort holidays. It lies at our doorstep, waiting to be appreciated.
The holiday season, with its warm and sometimes windy embrace, is fast approaching. More than ever, I find myself yearning for those days of just existing in the moment – listening, resting, and soaking in the world around me. Not the glitz and glamour of the holidays that I cherish but the quiet moments of reflection and gratitude.
I am the first to say that I have been guided by the latest toys or gadgets to make my kids happy. But I am really moving away from external affirmations, to being able to empower the kids and us, to entertain ourselves through something we have learnt to do – a boardgame, Bananagrams, Boggle. Instead of chasing after the GOAT time gifts, the GOAT break will be where we swim, read books and find solace in the outdoors.
Things I cherish during these times
- The eager loud whispering of the children at sunrise, waiting for the world to wake up.
- The aromatic pleasure of a well-brewed coffee that I can savour and finish.
- Sandcastles and imaginations set free on the beach.
- Sunset. And all that comes with it…
Safety, of course, should always be a priority. This means sunscreen, staying hydrated, being wary of the ocean’s unpredictable nature, and ensuring our children are safe both in and out of the water.
But above all, what I value most during these breaks is time. Recent events have served as stark reminders that our time is both precious and fleeting. It’s the currency of life that we can neither earn more of nor take for granted. So, let’s cherish every second, every laugh, every hug, and get geared up for Fun!
See you on (or in) the sand! 🏊♀️ 🌊 🐙
