Octohoodie's favourite Ice Cream spots in Cape Town

Octohoodie's favourite Ice Cream spots in Cape Town

Octohoodie's favourite Ice Cream spots in Cape Town.

Anyone else looking forward to hot summer days, beach outings with kids and cool droolicious ice creams? The kids and I love any excuse to grab a cone (or tub!) whether after a dip in the ocean or just for couch time. Being the thoughtful person I am, I have done an extensive taste test of ice creams in Cape Town and here are my top three favourites.

Kristen’s Kick-Ass Ice Cream at Constantia Uitsig

We don’t need another excuse to go to Constantia Uitsig. Even before we discovered Kirsten's Kick-Ass Icre Cream it was the beautiful sprawling lawns that ensured our return time and time again. Top choices for me are Salted Caramel and Peanut Fluff, while the kids love Sweet Cream with Dark Chocolate & Honeycomb. YUM!

Unframed Ice Cream at Spier

I’m just going to go ahead and say that the Sweet Lemon I’ve had here is the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. In. My. Life. And that’s why I’m including this in my listing, even though Unframed is only open seasonally at Spier (although there are stores in Cape Town CBD, Woodstock and Franschhoek). They’ve also got a variety of vegan flavours, which are equally decadent and delicious. Try their Vegan Spicy Mango - it’s incredible.

Soft Serve Ice Cream Shop 110 Main Road Kalk Bay

A lot of you may have heard of the Ice Cafe in Kalk Bay (even Jamie Oliver has been there), but I personally love this little hole-in-the-wall a few shops down. It feels so nostalgic getting a Choc 99 (with a Flake!) after some sand and sun in Kalk Bay. You can also go big by trying out the Raging Bull (two Flakes!) or the Strawberry Volcano.

Our poncho-inspired beach hoodies were designed for you – the water-lovers, the out-and-abouters, the active ice cream lovers of any generation.  Octohoodie serves as a gorgeous cover-up as you make your way from the beach to the ice cream parlour. They are free-fitting, soft and comfortable, flexible and quick-drying (as well as very stylish) and fun!
